The jury in the capital murder trial of Luis Aguirre reached a verdict Thursday afternoon in Riley County District Court of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The jury deliberated approximately four and a half hours before reaching the decision. The other option for the jury was to give Aguirre the death penalty but they chose the life sentence instead.
Aguirre was convicted last month for the murders of 18-year old Tanya Moldanado and her 13-month old son Juan in 2009.
Formal sentencing for Aguirre has been set for Tuesday, August 7 at 1:15 p.m.
