    Manhattan Fire Deparment 2012 Fireworks Report

    The 4th of July holiday is done and the report from the Manhattan Fire Department has been released as to the fires that were caused or suspected to be caused by fireworks.

    The Fire Department responded to six dumpster / trash fires, seven grass fires and two structure fires.

    The first fire was a trash can fire at the 2100 block of Patricia Pl.  It was reported at 11:34 pm on Saturday, June 30.  No dollar amount lost.

    The second fire was a rubbish fire at the 1600 block of McCain Lane.  It was reported at 10:56 pm on Sunday, July 1.  No dollar amount lost.

    The third fire was a grass fire at the 5500 block of Stone Crest Drive.  It was reported at 10:17 pm on Monday, July 2.  No dollar amount lost.

    The fourth fire was a grass fire at the intersection of Anderson and Scenic Drive.  It was reported at 5:52 pm on Tuesday, July 3.  No dollar amount lost.

    The fifth fire was a structure fire at the 700 block of Dondee.  It was reported at 10:16 pm on Tuesday, July 3.  It is estimated at a loss of $35,000.

    The sixth fire was a dumpster fire at the 700 block of Walters.  It was reported at 11:45 pm on Tuesday, July 3.  It is estimated at a loss of $250.

    The seventh fire was a dumpster fire at the intersection of Walters and Donna’s Way.  It was reported at 1:09 am on Wednesday, July 4.  It is estimated at a loss of $200.

    The eighth fire was a grass fire at the 3400 block of Vanesta Drive.  It was reported at 1:28 am on Wednesday, July 4.  No dollar amount lost.

    The ninth fire was a grass fire at Heartland Valley.  It was reported at 9:16 pm on Wednesday, July 4.  No dollar amount lost.

    There were two grass fires reported on the intersection of Miller Parkway and Fort Riley Boulevard.  Both were reported on Wednesday, July 4 at apporximately 9:37 pm.  No dollar amount lost.

    The next was a rubbish fire at the 100 block of McCall Road.  It was reported at 11:05 pm on Wednesday, July 4.  No dollar amount lost.

    The next was a dumpster fire at the 1100 block of Waters Drive.  It was reported at 12:40 am on Thursday, July 5.  It is estimated at a loss of $100.

    The next was a grass fire at the intersection of S. Wreath and Hemlock Avenue.  It was reported at 12:45 am on Thursday, July 5.  No dollar amount lost.

    The final fire was a structure fire at the 3700 block of Katherine Circle.  It was reported at 4:38 am on Thursday, July 5.  The estimated loss is $340,000.
