A driver and passenger are were taken to the Riley County jail on a number of charges Thursday evening.

Christean Ross, 24, of the 3000 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard, and Alyssa Hedman, 20 of the 1900 block of Strong Avenue, were both arrested Thursday shortly before 10 p.m.

A Riley County Police officer originally made a traffic stop at the 300 block of Colorado and there were reportedly issues with identification. Police say the driver took off and a pursuit occurred.

The vehicle ended up striking two trees and a light post at 3rd and Pierre.

Hedman was detained at the scene of the accident and Ross took off on foot and was later arrested.

An on scene investigation led to the discovery of drugs within the vehicle.

Ross is charged with a number of crimes including possession of  drugs and drug paraphernalia, along with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an injury accident, failure to report an injury accident, and a probation violation and failure to appear. Ross’s total bond is $13,305.

Hedman also has a number of charges including possession drugs and felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Hedman has a total bond of $4,000.
