K-State ranked in top 25 for first time in 8 years

K-State is projected to finish 6th in the Big 12 by the media, and appropriately the Cats are the 6th of 6 Big 12 team to come in the USA Today coaches poll released today. Overall K-State is ranked 21st after a 10-3 season in 2011.  Elsewhere in the Big 12, Oklahoma ranks 4th, West Virginia is #11, Texas #15, TCU #17, and Oklahoma State is #19.

Five of the top 10 are from the SEC including LSU and Alabama, who are ranked #1 and #2.  The two flip flop in the 2012 preseason poll despite the Crimson Tide dominating the Bayou Bengals in last season BCS title game.  USC, Oklahoma, and Oregon round out the top five.
