Riley County police responded to  a vehicle versus pedestrian accident that sends one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

On Friday evening at approximately 9:15pm a vehicle struck a pedestrian near the 400 block of North 11th street in Manhattan.

According to police reports on scene investigation revealed that Black 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 18 year old Matthew VanHorn of Manhattan was southbound in the 400 block of North 11th Street when it collided with 26 year old Kevin Wallpe also of Manhattan, as he ran west across 11th Street from an alleyway.

Mr. Wallpe was transported by Riley County EMS to the Mercy Regional Health Center for life threatening injuries.  He was later flown to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Riley county police announced Tuesday that Wallpe is still  listed as serious.

The accident investigation is still on-going.  No further information is available at this time.
