K-State and Kansas City tied the mark for the least amount of combined points in the Big 12 era in a game involving the Wildcats on Saturday night at Bramlage Coliseum.  The good news is though K-State bested the ‘Roos 52-44 as Rodney McGruder led all scorers with 17 points.  Thomas Gipson had 13 points and six rebounds, and Nino Williams pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to go with eight points.  K-State would lead by as many as 11 points in the first 20 minutes, but Kansas City scored 12 of the final 17 points of the half to pull within 25-21 at the break.  The ‘Roos pulled within 36-34 with 9:16 to play in the game, but K-State (10-2) wouldn’t allow UMKC (4-9) any closer than three the rest of the way.  The Cats shot just 32.1 percent from the field, made just two of ten three-point attempts, and barely shot over 50 percent from the foul line by making only 16 of 31 attempts.  Thomas Staton led the ‘Roos with 13 points off the bench.

K-State will finish up non-conference play on Monday with an early tipoff of 1:00pm against South Dakota at Bramlage Coliseum.  Former K-State guard Juevol Myles is leading the Coyotes in scoring at 15.3 points per game.  Pregame will begin at noon from the K-State Sports Network on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock.
