LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)   The Chicago Bears have hired former K-State and Purdue defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar as their linebackers coach.  Tibesar was a member of Ron Prince’s staff all three years at K-State. He was the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 after running the special teams for a year. K-State ranked 117th out of 119 Division I teams in total defense during the 2008 season. Purdue’s defense allowed just under 416 yards per game last season and ranked 11th in the Big Ten.

Tibesar served as Purdue’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach last season after working for three years under new Bears coach Marc Trestman with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. Tibesar was their linebackers coach for two years before becoming defensive coordinator in 2011.  The Bears announced the move on Tuesday.  Tibesar replaces Bob Babich, who was let go after the season and is now Jacksonville’s defensive coordinator.
