MHS Comes Up Empty On The Road

    0
By John Kurtz on February 19, 2013 High School Sports, Manhattan High School, Sports

The MHS girls raced out to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter over Hayden but couldn’t overcome 21 turnovers in a 56-43 loss. Hayden had built a ten point lead by halftime after going on a 21-4 run starting midway through the first quarter. The Wildcats then led by as many as 18 in the second half before Manhattan rallied to cut the deficit to 46-40 in the fourth quarter. The Indians never got any closer though and Hayden iced the game at the free throw line. Darby Price led the Indians with 11 points and Elayna Spilker chipped in with 9 points as well.

The Manhattan boys got a season high 16 points from Chris Hudgins but couldn’t muster nearly enough offense as a team in a 43-32 loss to Hayden. It was only a two point game at halftime with MHS trailing 16-14, but the Wildcats began to pull away in the third quarter. The Indians never seriously threatened the Hayden lead down the stretch. Jonathan Taylor scored seven point for Manhattan and was the only Indian other than Hudgins with more than two points.

Both teams close out the regular season on the road at Seaman on Friday. Pregame coverage on KMAN starts at 5:45.
