DUI charges land an area man in jail over the weekend.
Riley County police told reporters on Monday that Matthew Syrokosz (26), of St. Marys, was arrested around 5:00 Friday evening and charged with DUI.
Since Syrokosz is classified as a habitual offender, his bond was set at $5,000.

A burglary results in a significant loss for two K-State students.
Riley County police told reporters that between 11:30 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, an unknown suspect entered the home of Sarah Sage (26) and Adam Jayarathinam (24) located at the 700 block of Allison in Manhattan while the residence was occupied and removed several items.
At least two laptop computers were stolen, but it is possible more items were taken as well. Total loss so far in this case is $1,300. Police are investigating.

A verbal argument leads to several charges.
Riley County police responded to a call early Saturday afternoon at the 2200 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival, they took Paul Stauffer (56) of Texas into custody and charged him with aggravated battery, felony possession of a firearm, aggravated assault, and domestic battery.
Stauffer allegedly got into a verbal argument with two other individuals which ended with him brandishing a gun and pointing it at the head of one of those individuals.
Stauffer remains confined on a $25,000 bond.

A local business is cleaning up damage suffered from an act of valdalism over the weekend.
Reliable Transportation, located at 1600 Fairlane in Manhattan reported that sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and 3:30 a.m. on Friday, and unknown suspect damaged several buildings, trailers, and sheds on the property with spray paint.
Estimated loss in this case is $1,500 and police are investigating.

A local woman was taken into custody over the weekend and charged with a variety of drug charges.
Riley County Police told reporters on Monday that at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, they arrested Destiny Melton (29) near the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Holiday Dr.
Melton was charged with driving on a suspended license, the sale and distribution of synthetic methamphetamine and marijuana , and various other drug charges.
Bond was set at $10,000.

A Wamego man is behind bars as the result of a stalking charge.
Riley County police report that Joshua Weeks (22) was arrested Sunday evening and charged with stalking. This arrest stems from an incident that took place between March 14th and 18th.
No more information is available at this time, and Weeks remains confined on a $25,000 bond.

A local man is probably wishing he did not get behind the wheel as is facing multiple charges stemming from a DUI incident.
Jonathan Watt (29) was arrested by Riley County police Sunday evening and charged with reckless driving, no proof of insurance, not wearing a seat belt, and DUI. Watt was also charged with being a habitual DUI offender.

A verbal argument over money at a hotel leads to an arrest.
Riley County police were called to the Westwood hotel located at 2108 Fort Riley Blvd around 10:30 Sunday night for a report of an altercation between staff of the hotel and a customer.
Kevin Finch (57) was holding a knife sharpener behind his back as he argued with, and threatened a member of the hotel staff. Police arrested Finch, and charged him with aggravated assault.
Bond was set at $7,000
