The snow has moved out of the area and the digging out has begun for Northeast Kansas. The National Weather Service office in Topeka reports that Manhattan officially recorded four and a half inches of snow while other parts of Riley County fell in the two to three inch range.
Amounts of snow were lighter to the North and West of Manhattan while they were heavier to the South and East. Emporia received five inches of snow while Topeka recorded six inches, but just to the East of Topeka amounts up to eight and a half inches were reported.
For the rest of Sunday it’s expected to remain mostly cloudy with some peaks of sun from time to time. There is still a chance of flurries overnight Sunday into Monday and then the area can expect to see a warming trend with temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s by the end of this week.
