The Baltimore Ravens selected former K-State linebacker Arthur Brown with the #56 overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Ravens traded up to select the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, making a deal with the Seattle Seahawks to move up six spots for a 2nd round pick (#62 overall), 5th round pick (#165 overall), and a 6th round pick (#199 overall). The defending Super Bowl champions fulfilled a definite need by selecting Brown, who could step right in for sure-fire hall-of-famer Ray Lewis. Following the Ravens’ 34-31 win over San Francisco in New Orleans in February, Lewis retired after earning second Super Bowl ring.
The FWAA First Team All-American, Brown led the team in tackles for a second-straight season with 100 stops, including seven TFLs and one sack in 2012. He also has two interceptions this season, one against West Virginia and the other he returned for a touchdown a week later against Texas Tech. In Brown’s two seasons in Manhattan, K-State won a combined 21 games and played in the Cotton and Fiesta Bowls.
