Riley County police are looking for a driver of a 1997 Dodge Caravan that left the road and struck a tree in Manhattan.
Police say at around 5:30 Thursday morning the van crossed the center lane near the 400 block of Poyntz Avenue, drove onto the sidewalk, and struck a tree in front of Barry’s Drug Store. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived at the location of the accident.
Manhattan city workers have cleared the tree as it was blocking the businesses by obstructing the entrances to the establishments.
Police say they do not know who was driving the vehicle, and are looking for witnesses to come forward to aid in the investigation.
