Election day has arrived!

Several city and school elections are being held in the area, but probably the more notable and gaining the most attention is the Manhattan City Commission race, with seven candidates trying for three positions. KMAN news had packages on each of these individuals the past few weeks, but they include John Ball, Daniel Hogan, incumbent Rich Jankovich, Karen McCulloh, Debbie Nuss, Usha Reddi, and Bob Strawn.

Another race that’s highlighted locally is four USD 383 school board candidates for three positions, including Mitch Beims, Aaron Estabrook, Pat Hudgins, and Marcia Rozell.

Ogden has two candidates for mayor including Jimmy Bond and Robert Pence… as well as seven candidates for five city council spots. Six people are trying for five spots on the Randolph City Council. Four candidates are trying for three Leonardville city council seats. Only two candidates stepped up for three Riley City council positions.

Two people are trying for Riley County USD 378 position four, two for position five, and only one candidate for position six.

Blue Valley Randolph’s USD 384 has one candidate for each of the three open seats.

Pottawatomie county voters have a lot to consider when they cast their ballots.

Eight people are trying for three open St. George City council positions. While Westmoreland only has one candidate for Mayor, four candidates are trying for two city council spots there. Wamego only has one candidate per city commission seat.

Onaga has two candidates for mayor and three people are trying for the town’s two city council spots. St. Mary’s has three people trying for two city commission positions. Two candidates are vying to be Emmett Mayor, but only three have stepped forward for three city council spots.

Other city council and mayor races with just enough or not enough candidates include Wheaton, Belvue, Havensville, Louisville, and Olsburg.

Wamego’s USD 320 has two people trying for each of the three positions to be filled. Rock Creek’s USD 323 has two candidates for two of the positions, five and six, but only one candidate for position four.

Polls close at seven this evening.
