The Kansas Highway patrol worked a couple of accidents in Riley county this past weekend, one which resulted in three people requiring hospitalization.
Loren Gray (64) and Ningbo Li (32), both of Manhattan, and Larissa Gibb (31) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri were injured in an accident on highway 77 nearly two miles north of highway 24 shortly before nine Sunday night.
Gibb was driving a 2009 Nissan Versa northbound on highway 77, with a 1987 Chevy pickup driven by Gray southbound. Gibb’s Nissan went left of center into the southbound lane. Gray travelled onto the shoulder to avoid Gibb’s vehicle, with Gibb’s vehicle still striking the second vehicle head on partially on the shoulder and partially in the roadway.
Gibb was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka, with Gray and Li taken to Mercy Regional Health center. Gibb is listed in fair condition. Li was treated and released and Gray was transferred to another facility.
The other accident worked by KHP was reported at the Manhattan regional airport, with a plane coming in for a landing and the nose gear failing. There were no injuries, with Jarrett Brookhouser (21)of Junction City identified as the student pilot of the plane and John Bolton (29), as the passenger. The accident occurred about 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
