On Friday April 19, 2013 officers from the Riley County Police Department were
dispatched to the 6000 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. for an injury accident involving two
vehicles. Through their preliminary investigation officers were able to determine that a
car operated by fifty-one year old Carol Douglas of Manhattan drifted over the center
line where it collided with a vehicle driven by thirty-seven year old Jason Ellis of
Manhattan. Sixty-eight year old Richard Rowe of Maryland was also a passenger in
    Ellis’s vehicle.

As a result of the accident Ms. Douglas succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Her next of kin have been notified. Mr. Ellis was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center by
ambulance with non-life threatening injuries and Mr. Rowe was air lifted to KU Med in
Kansas City with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into this accident
    continues.
