Two people were injured in a three vehicle accident, two of which were motorcycles.
Tory Peoples (39) of Manhattan and Carl Davis Hendricks Jr. (27) of Alma were both taken to hospitals following the accident, reported shortly before four Sunday afternoon in Clay County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2005 Ford Pickup driven by 93 year old Lester Elsasser of Wakefield was westbound on K-82, about a half mile west of Wakefield, when Elsasser did a u-turn at the intersection of Sunflower road. Hendrick’s 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck the pickup, and then People’s 2010 Honda motorcycle struck Hendricks cycle.
Hendricks was taken to The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City and Peoples was taken to Geary Community Hospital where he was treated and released. Both were wearing helmets.
That was not the only accident involving motorcyles this weekend.
A couple of injury accidents were reported by Geary County law enforcement authorities, both involving Suzuki motorcycles.
Zera Reese of Junction City was injured when the Suzuki XL-7 she was driving went out of control and struck a guardrail. That accident occured on K-57 at mile marker seven at 7:42 Sunday evening.
And Jeremy Cook of Ogden was injured when the 2008 Suzuki GSXR-600 he was driving hit loose gravel, causing him to lose control and slide off the roadway. That accident also occurred on south K-57 highway at mile marker 15, but on Saturday evening shortly after 5:30. Cook was transported to Geary Community Hospital by Junction City Fire/EMS with complaints of neck, back and shoulder pain.Cook was treated and released.
