USD 378 Riley County Schools has announced the hiring of Antoinette Root as the Riley County High School principal. For the last 10 years Ms. Root has served as the Transition Coordinator & Classroom teacher for Reno County Youth Services & Hutchinson High School, as well as being an Adjunct Instructor at Hutchinson Community College teaching Geography, Fitness for Life and Personal & Community Health.

Since 1998 Ms. Root has been involved in administrative duties & teaching at juvenile service centers and college/university levels in South Dakota and Texas.  A total of 31 potential candidates applied and were prescreened through the use of the Wonderlic personality profile; 6 candidates were granted interviews over the last week.  A team of Riley County administrators and teacher leaders selected Ms. Root based upon her expertise in the areas of curriculum & instruction, communication skills, assertiveness and decision making.

Superintendent Brad Starnes stated, “We are excited to welcome Antoinette to Riley County!  Her practical and varied experiences are the right fit for our schools. ”
