    RCPD Joins National Volunteer Program

    0
By KMAN Staff on April 15, 2013 Local News, Riley County

RCPD CoinCaptain Jeff Hooper announced that the Riley County Police Department has joined the national Volunteers in Police Service Program.

Throughout the country, thousands of law enforcement agencies are utilizing volunteers for supplementing public safety and crime prevention efforts.  The volunteers do not, by any means, replace the employees, but offer support to allow agencies to provide additional services and maintain positive relationships with the public.

Currently there are more than 2,000 registered VIP programs with more than 250,000 volunteers representing agencies in all 50 states.

Volunteers working in the department will experience a number of responsibilities, including- performing administrative /clerical maintenance, janitorial, language interpretation, photography/videographer services, and other duties as needs arise.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the department can find an application online at rileycountypolice.org.  You must be at least 21 years of age and able to commit a minimum of at least 16 hours per month.
