Royals Split Four Game Series With Indians

Ubaldo Jimenez pitched into the eighth inning, Ryan Raburn hit two home runs and the Cleveland Indians pounded the Kansas City Royals 9-0 on Monday night to split their four-game series. Raburn hit a three-run shot in the fifth inning and a solo homer in the eighth, and finished the night with four hits. Jason Kipnis also went deep to pace a suddenly potent Indians offense.

Wade Davis (2-2) made a second straight miserable start for the Royals. The right-hander allowed 8 runs, 12 hits and 3 walks in just 4 2/3 innings. The Royals won the first two games of the series, but were outscored 19-3 over the final two, unable to solve spot starter Corey Kluber on Sunday night and baffled by Jimenez on Monday. The Royals fall to 13-10 on the season and now trail the Detroit Tigers by a half game in the American League Central division.

RHP James Shields takes the mound against his former team when Tampa Bay opens a three-game series in Kansas City tonight (Tuesday). He will face Alex Cobb for Tampa Bay, first pitch is set for 7:10pm.
