The 1st Infantry Division Band Brass Quintet is offering a free concert this Saturday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m., at the Manhattan Public Library. Performing selections from John Williams, Aaron Copeland, and Irving Berlin, the group puts a special “blues and brass” twist on patriotic music in honor of Memorial Day.

The five-piece group was assembled to support Fort Riley and the surrounding communities with ceremonial music and to promote the performing arts.  With most of the unit recently returning from deployment to Afghanistan, the quintet is the primary small ceremonial performance group at Fort Riley.

“These are professional musicians of the highest quality and their music always draws a crowd.  We’ve been so happy to have them perform at the library over the years and look forward to another memorable concert,” says John Pecoraro, Assistant Director of Manhattan Public Library.

For more information, visit Manhattan Public Library at 629 Poyntz Avenue, call (785) 776-4741, or visit the library’s website at www.manhattan.lib.ks.us. Find Manhattan Public Library on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Foursquare.
