ELLSWORTH, Kan. (AP) The Kansas Highway Patrol says four people who died Tuesday in an accident in Ellsworth County were from Colorado.
The patrol identified the victims Wednesday as Kevin J. Dorrell, 54; Debra M. Dorrell, 51; Justin Turner, 15; and Joe Turner, 11, all of Aurora, Colo.
Jonah Turner, 9, survived the crash when an Ellsworth man pulled him from the wreckage. He is hospitalized at a Wichita hospital. The relationship of the victims was not released.
The patrol says the accident happened when a Cadillac Escalade driven by Kevin Dorrell hit a disabled semi-trailer that had parked along Interstate 70 about eight miles north of Ellsworth.
The truck driver was not injured.
