    Three Up For Parole

    Three people convicted of crimes in Riley and Geary counties are up for public comment and possible parole in August.

    Shawn McDiffett, 43, was convicted in 1989 on drug manufacture and possession charges in Riley county. McDiffett also faces other types of charges in Sedgwick, Lyon, and Butler counties.

    Clifford Burt,41, has been serving time for Geary county convictions in 1991 of arson and attempted first degree murder. He faces similar convictions in Reno County as well as attempting to influence a judicial officer in Ellsworth county.

    Archie Watkins, Jr., 57, was convicted of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary in Geary county in 1986.

    Public comment sessions for the three and others up for parole will be August 19th in Kansas City’s City hall, August 21st in the Finney State office building in Wichita, and August 23rd at the Landon State office building in Topeka. Parole hearings will be held in September, with the earliest release in October.
