The first meeting of July has come and gone for the Pottawatomie County Commission and a few items were discussed.
To begin their meeting, John Watt, County Counselor, began the discussions on where the county may be going when it comes to Conceal and Carry within county buildings. At this point, the county has signed the exemption, but by January 1 they will have to have something in place.
Tim Eisenbarth, Noxious Weed Direction, Gregg Webster, Zoning Administrator, and Leslie Campbell, Health Director, were all present to give their department updates.
Eisenbarth reviewed his numbers showing an increase in chemical sales. But, that wasn’t it for him as a bid opening took place on a new skid loader for the county. Two companies made bids and at a later meeting, Eisenbarth will be bringing his recommendation to the commissioners for which one he believes will suit the county.
Webster presented in June there were nine permits for dwellings in the county and 16 total permits. This was up from last year.
Campbell told the commissioners she had received her grant awards, but there was a decrease of about 2%. The total amount they were given was $136,901.
The commission also successfully went through their audit and their project update with the Justice Center, which is about 30 to 40 days off from completion.
The commission will meet again next Monday.
