27 Sight-In Their Rifles For Deer Hunt

    0
By KMAN Staff on August 19, 2013 Local News, Manhattan

27 area residents gathered at Fancy Creek Shooting Range, Sunday afternoon, to Sight their rifles in preparation for the 11th annual Tuttle Creek Youth/ADA Deer Hunt.

During the afternoon, hunters participated in a safety orientation, practiced their shot, and dug into a bbq pork supper. Participants were also paired with experienced hunters, who will serve as individual guides during the main event. Other items provided for this hunt include accessible hunting blinds, hunting locations, hunter orange hats and vests, transportation to the field, and arrangements have been made with area lockers to provide basic processing of harvested deer free of charge.

The hunt will take place on September 7th and 8th at Tuttle Creek State Park and is designed for area youth ages 11-16 and those with a certified disability.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), Riley County Fish and Game Association, and the Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake are all working together to facilitate the event.

Other contributors include: Friends of Fancy Creek Range, Kansas City Chapter of Safari Club International, Kansas State Rifle Association and the Tuttle Creek Lake Association.
