Several Hundred donors came to the new West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium Thursday evening to get a first look at the results of their generous contributions. The VIP Preview was emceed by the voice of the Wildcats Wyatt Thompson and featured K-State President Kirk Schultz and Athletics Director John Currie who announced that the project was the most expensive in the University’s 150-year history.

Donors were able to view the new Performance Table, the Main Club Level, the Loge Level, both Suite Levels, the new Press box and the Photo Deck at the very top. The West Stadium Center will also be part of a new lighting system for the 45-year old stadium which replaces the six tall light poles that had illuminated the facility since 1983. There are now two light standards atop the West Stadium Center and two new light towers affixed to the East Side upper deck which make the stadium brighter than ever before. The Performance Table adjacent to the Club Level will not only serve K-State’s Football team but all of the Wildcat Student Athletes.

The $75 million facility will be officially dedicated at 11 a.m. Friday and will feature several speakers including Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and the unveiling of a statue of Snyder at the stadium’s main entrance. The public is invited to the dedication ceremony and will also have the opportunity to attend an open house for the Center on September 13. K-State will open the season Friday night against two-time defending FCS (Division 1-AA) National Champion North Dakota State. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
