    RCPD Cruisers

    Update Thursday morning:
For a couple of hours Wednesday afternoon, Ogden residents were warned to stay away from the 200 blocks of 10th and 11th Streets and more details were released by Riley County Police early Wednesday evening.

An Ogden man was taken into custody following the incident, reported to be domestic-related involving a husband and wife. The man is identified on Thursday morning’s RCPD arrest report as Armando Lopez, 22, of Ogden, who faces possible charges of aggravated battery, battery, and criminal restraint. Lopez’s bond has been set at $7,000.

A possible explosive device was reportedly involved in the incident, with Riley County Police Captain Kurt Moldrup telling KMAN Wednesday evening the device was removed from the home and dealt with by the RCPD bomb team.

The woman involved reportedly had minor injuries but was said to be in generally good shape after taking shelter at a neighbor’s house.

An Ogden man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after a standoff with authorities for questioning regarding a domestic incident and also for the possession of a possible explosive device. Riley County Police Department Captain Kurt Moldrup told KMAN News early Wednesday evening by phone that the device was removed from the home located at 201 11th in Ogden and disassembled by a member of the RCPD Bomb team. A woman whose name has not been released but is the wife of the man being questioned sustained minor injuries but is said to be in generally good shape after taking shelter at a neighbor’s house.

Moldrup tells KMAN that RCPD has possession of the device and they’re now investigating to find out if it is in fact explosive. Police had responded to the residence on 11th street shortly after 1 p.m. and when the possibility of an explosive device arose the blocks on either side of 11th street were evacuated as residents had been issued an Iris alert.

The names of the two individuals involved have not been released due to the incident’s domestic nature.
