Fifteen sets were needed as K-State volleyball claimed the UNLV Invitational with their third straight five-set victory to open the season, this time 25-27, 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, and 15-13 over the host Rebels on Saturday night at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.  Tournament MVP Kaitlynn Pelger led a Wildcat attack with 19 kills to go with a team-high 13 digs, eight blocks, and four service aces.  Three players joined her in double figure kills, Taylor Johnson and Courtney Traxson with 11, and Lilla Porubek had 10.  Katie Brand also posted a double-double with 49 assists and 10 digs.   Freshman defensive specialist Kersten Kober also reached 10 digs.  Johnson and Traxson led the team in blocks with Pelger with eight.  Pelger was joined on the all-UNLV Invitational team by Johnson and Kober.  UNLV (2-1) was led offensively by Daryn Glenn with 17 kills

K-State (3-0) will start a four-match homestand when they host their home invitational.  Southeast Missouri State will meet the Wildcats at noon on Friday at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  Former K-State assistant Justin Ingram will lead Southern Illinois against the Cats on Friday night at 7:30pm.  K-State closes the tournament against Siena on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
