Mueller Wins Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year

By John Kurtz on December 11, 2013 K-State Sports, Sports

K-State junior DE Ryan Mueller’s reward for his 11.5 sack, 18.5 tackle for loss season is being named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Big 12 coaches.

It’s now the second straight year that K-State has taken home that honor. Meshak Williams won the award last season after registering 15.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks.

Mueller was beat out for Defensive Player of the Year in the conference by Texas DE Jackson Jeffcoat and TCU CB Jason Verrett.

Mueller tied K-State’s all-time single season sack record in 2013 and will be back in 2014 to try to grab sole possession of the record. It’s already been a busy week for Mueller after being named the Defensive Player of the Year by the Big 12 Broadcasters and being named a first team all-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press.
