3 MHS Baseball Players Sign

Three Manhattan High baseball players made their college choices official Wednesday. Outfielder Kellen Myers signed with Butler County Community College, pitcher Henry de Noble signed with Iowa Western Community College and infielder/pitcher Jacob Biller signed with Fort Scott Community College.

This trio of Indians join teammate Brett Fehr who has already signed with Wichita State.

Manhattan High head coach Don Hess expects that plenty more Indians from this senior class will also end up signing to play college baseball, a group that could become the largest signing class in program history. For now, he’s extremely proud of Myers, de Noble and Biller.

“These guys have been great ambassadors for our program,” Hess said. “All three of these guys are gonna do very well because they’re hard workers. They’re going to achieve some great success in college.”

Iowa Western has won two junior college national championships since 2010, and that was a big selling point for de Noble.

“I want to be a part of another (national championship),” de Noble said.

Myers, who says he chose Butler over interest from Cloud County Community College and Newman University, felt comfortable with the Grizzlies.

“It was just an awesome school when I went down there,” Myers said. “The coaches were really nice, and they have very nice facilities.”

With his senior season still on the horizon, Biller is glad that his college decision is already made.

“It feels relieving to have it kind of out of the way,” Biller said. “(Fort Scott) just felt right.”

Manhattan High will be looking for another trip to state in 2014. The Indians made it to the first-round of state in 2013 before falling to Olathe South.
