K-State Stops TCU, Runs Streak To 10

Thomas Gipson scored 19 points and Marcus Foster added 16 as 25th-ranked Kansas State fought off an upset bid from a stubborn TCU squad as the Wildcats Thomas Gipson, Hudson Price, Brandon Parrish, Jarvis Raydowned the Horned Frogs 65-47 Tuesday night in Big 12 action at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Ft. Worth, Texas.

After committing six early turnovers, K-State righted the ship and opened up a 31-21 halftime lead while winning the battle of the rebounds handily. However, sloppy play and poor shooting early in the second half allowed TCU to make a run and cut the lead to 36-33 during one stretch which saw TCU outscore K-State in the paint 10-2. The Wildcats however were able to stabilize things once more thanks to two three-point baskets by Foster in less than a minute and eventually secure their 10th consecutive victory.

Kansas State (12-3, 2-0) is on its longest winning streak since also winning 10 in a row during the 2009-10 season. The Wildcats will put the streak on the line when they travel to Lawrence on Saturday to meet 18th-ranked Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. It will mark the first meeting this season between last season’s co-Big 12 Champions. Tipoff on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
