TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A series of events are scheduled Jan. 29 in Topeka to celebrate the 153rd anniversary of Kansas statehood.

The Kansas Historical Society will host the events, including a dedication ceremony in the Statehouse rotunda on the first floor. The Statehouse restoration project was recently completed after more than 12 years and nearly $330 million.

Gov. Sam Brownback will be joined by other dignitaries and musicians for the dedication. School groups will be able to participate in programs in the new visitor center from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
