Update: Wednesday afternoon

KMAN had a chance to visit with Daniel’s father, Jose, Wednesday afternoon, who says his son enjoyed his time at Kansas State’s A. Q. Miller School of Journalism. He says he was really excited when he got in radio, especially calling games while working at Kansas State’s radio station.

Jose Flores adds his son would have loved Kansas State’s win against Kansas earlier this week and he says the Cotton Bowl trip was another highlight for Daniel.
Flores says Daniel mainly was running the board for his current job with Steckline Communications. He adds Daniel got on the air a little bit but wanted to get on the air more, and would have loved to call games again like he was doing at Kansas State.
Daniel’s funeral is planned for Monday in Derby.

Update Tuesday morning:  WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Wichita police say a man who was killed at a Wichita communications building worked for the company.   Police identified the victim found at Steckline Communications as 25-year-old Daniel J. Flores. They say he had worked at the company for about two years.
An employee of the company found Flores’ body early Monday. Police say he died of blunt force trauma, and there were signs of a struggle.   KAKE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1h5axp5 ) Lt. Todd Ojile says several doors lead into the building and police found no signs of forced entry. He says it’s unclear if Flores was the intended target.
Officers are still processing the scene and no one has been arrested.  The company operates the Mid America Ag News Network and several radio stations.
KMAN has determined  Flores was a former Kansas State student and former assistant sports/news director of KSDB at Kansas State.
KMAN spoke to Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies at the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism at K-State, Steve Smethers about the tragedy..
