64th District St. Rep. Candidate Ben Wilson
As one Manhattan resident filed for candidacy, the representative currently in that spot announced he will non re-file.

The Kansas Secretary of State website indicates Republican Ben Wilson has filed for the 64th district position.  According to a recent press release, Wilson lives near Ogden and teaches violin lessons in Manhattan.  “I love working with kids, and I have a passion for education.  I want to ensure the best possible future for this next generation by enacting policies at the state level that strengthen the economy, foster job creation, preserve freedom, and enable high-quality education”, Wilson commented.  Wilson has also worked part time in a state representative’s office for the last two sessions.

Earlier this week, KMAN also received word that current 64th District Representative Vern Swanson, of Clay Center, will not be seeking re-election.  Swanson has served a term of eight years, and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Vision 2020 Committee.

Swanson said, “It has been my honor and I consider it a privilege to have been elected to represent you.  I hope I have served you well and been attentive to the issues affecting the lives of the 24,000 residents of the District and those of all Kansans”.
