As announced previously, the Lawrence Police Department has identified the body of a 44-year-old man found in the Kansas River last weekend.
Although police didn’t directly confirm the identity of the body with KMAN, sources indicate that Troy Straub, originally of St. George, was the man found in the river. The date of birth matches that of information KMAN has regarding Straub of St. George. According to a previous arrest report and information posted to Facebook, Straub graduated from Wamego Highschool and was a St. George native.

Lawrence, KS (AP) Lawrence police say they don’t suspect foul play in the death of a 44-year-old Lawrence man whose body was found near the Kansas River.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports emergency responders were dispatched at 8:48 a.m. Saturday after a member of a river cleanup group reported finding the body.
Police spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley says a preliminary examination by a coroner and crime-scene investigators indicated there was no foul play.
The body was found near an area where homeless camps have been found and unattended deaths have been reported several times since at least 2008.
McKinley says he didn’t know whether the man had a home or was between homes at the time of his death. He said he didn’t see a campsite, but saw a campfire ring nearby.
