Cats Take 4th in a Row From Shockers

Colton Kalmus pitched five strong innings, and K-State closer Jake Matthys went the rest of the way, earning a rare, four-inning save in a 3-2 victory over Wichita State on Tuesday night at Tointon Family Stadium.  Kalmus gave up just two hits, and one earned run, a solo homer by the Shockers’ Garrett Bayliff in the fourth innning.  Matthys struck out five, and scattered five hits and two walks over his four scoreless frames.
K-State got on the board first when RJ Santigate knocked in two runs with a single in the bottom of the first.  Wichita State scored an unearned run in the second, but freshman DH Tyler Stover made it a two-run game again with an RBI single to center field.  The only K-State multi-hit effort came from Santigate, and Shane Conlon scored a pair of runs.
K-State is now 19-13, and will face yet another rival when they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for a date with the Cornhuskers on Wednesday afternoon at 5:00pm.  Coverage on KMAN begins from Hawks Field at 4:30 with the BD4 Distributing/Cary Company pregame show.
