Update at Noon Thursday:
A gas leak in the 3200 block of Kimball Avenue caused some traffic issues Thursday morning. Riley County Police P-I-O Mat Droge indicates a construction crew was involved. Manhattan Public Works Director Rob Ott tells KMAN it was not a city project but involved a drilling Rig working near Dara’s Gas Station, doing some borings. The Manhattan Fire Department stood by for Kansas Gas Service, with Kimball partially shut down.
An Iris Alert went out shortly before 9:30 regarding the leak. An alert indicating no further closure or hazard, with the roadway reopened for normal traffic, was announced shortly after 10:30.

A gas leak that resulted from a construction crew striking a gas line in the 3200 block of Kimball Avenue has resulted in a closure of part of the street.
Kimball Avenue is closed until further notice from Wreath Avenue to Avery as Manhattan Fire Department and Kansas Gas Service personnel work the scene. Riley County Police tell KMAN that there are no immediate hazards resulting from the gas leak.
