Former Kansas State basketball star Mitch Richmond has been elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Mitch played at Kansas State from 1986-1988. During his two years at Kansas State, he averaged over 20 points per game along with six rebounds and three assists per game.
Mitch was the fifth overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft and he was selected by the Golden State Warriors. He captured rookie of the year in his first stint with the Warriors when he averaged 22 points per game. Along with the Warriors, Mitch had stints with Sacramento, Washington and the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2002.
Richmond played 14 seasons, averaging 21 points and 3.5 rebounds on 46 percent shooting. He was a six-time All-Star and the 1995 All-Star MVP. He won a title with the Lakers in 2002.
Mitch is joined by Alonzo Mourning to enter the Basketball Hall of Fame. Tim Hardaway and Spencer Haywood were two players that were on the ballot but were not voted into the Hall of Fame.
