Tech rallies for series win over Cats

For the second day in a row, the Kansas State Wildcats jumped out to an early lead at Texas Tech but could not hold on as the Red Raiders rallied for a 7-4 victory to clinch the Big 12 series between the two teams Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field in Lubbock.

K-State led 3-0 after a half inning but Tech chipped away with one run in the second inning and and two more in the fourth to tie the game. The Wildcats regained the lead in the top of the fifth when Ross Kivett scored on a double play grounder. The Red Raiders re-tied the score in the bottom of the inning and scored the runs that provided them the winning margin with three tallies in the bottom of the seventh. Jake Whaley took the loss for the Wildcats who have yet to win a Big 12 series this season after claiming the league championship a year ago.

Kansas State (20-15, 2-6) wraps up the series at Texas Tech on Sunday in Lubbock with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
