    Weber Gets One Year Extension

Bruce Weber’s contract has been extended by a year through the 2018-19 season after leading the Wildcats to another NCAA tournament appearance. The extension was approved unanimously by the K-State Athletics, Inc., Board of Directors, the school announced Wednesday.

Weber won’t get a pay increase, but he would be in line for a $500,000 retention bonus if he stays at K-State through the end of the contract on April 30, 2019. His salary next season will be $1.85 million, with an increase of $100,000 for each remaining year on the contract. He would make $2.25 million during the final year of the contract in 2018-19.

K-State Athletics Director John Currie also announced that assistant coaches Chris Lowery, Alvin Brooks III and Chester Frazier will all get salary increases.

“Our men’s basketball program continues to make terrific progress under Coach Weber and his staff since their arrival,” Currie said in a statement. “He and Megan, along with the entire staff, have really embraced being a part of the K-State family and Manhattan community. I am excited about the future of our program and forward trajectory under his leadership.”

Weber is 47-21 in his first two seasons in Manhattan and has made back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances. He has the most wins during his first two seasons as head coach in K-State history.
