After two years of renovations, the new Wonder Workshop Children’s Museum facility is open to the public. The old building was located on Poyntz Avenue, and the new location is at 506 South Fourth Street.
An open house took place Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to commemorate the new building. Admission was free and children roamed the one story house to look at the differently themed rooms.
One room was dedicated to science, and had a static electricity machine for children to enjoy. Other activities included face painting, legos, and drawing.
Executive Director of Wonder Workshop, Richard Pitts said the transformation would not have been possible without the help of local volunteers. Bob’s Plumbing, Heating and Air donated a furnace free of charge for the building. The new location has also been inherited for the next 20 years rent-free from Bethel AME church.
Pitts mentioned the location is small, so they hope to expand in the next five years.
