    Former Wildcat Marshall Joins Diamondbacks

    Former K-State pitcher Evan Marshall is the 11th former Wildcat to reach the Major Leagues after being called up on Tuesday to the Arizona Diamondbacks from triple-A Reno. Evan MarshallMarshall is expected to make his debut for the D-Backs against the Milwaukee Brewers this week. He is 0-1 with a 0.54 ERA in 14 relief appearances with Reno this season, while allowing only 10 hits and five walks with 19 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings.

    Marshall pitched for K-State from 2009 to 2011, registering a 3.55 ERA in 85 career appearances. During his junior season in 2011, the right-hander had a 1.62 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 30 games, helping the Wildcats reach their third straight NCAA Regional.

    Marshall will become the second Wildcat currently in the Majors, joining pitcher Carlos Torres of the New York Mets.
