A Junction City man faces an August jury trial in a fleeing and eluding case that involved a couple of counties last November.A review hearing was held for Devoris Newson Wednesday in Riley County District Court, with a pretrial set for July 18th and jury trial August 20th.
Newson originally faced a number of charges and Riley County police used the IRIS alert system and social media to warn the public they were looking for him on a Sunday in early November. Using information gathered from the public, police located Newson and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However the pursuit ultimately ended when Newson crashed his vehicle and fled on foot in Geary County.
The Geary County Sheriff’s office and Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in taking Newson into custody.
