Relay For Life is Returning To Manhattan

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is happening on the 12th.

For those who don’t know what Relay for Life is, it’s one of the biggest fundraisers that the American Cancer Society holds as it raises both money for their cause and awareness for cancer in communities.

Chair of the Riley County Relay For Life, Melissa Turnbull spoke with KMAN about the event to look forward to this Saturday.

“One of the things that’s big for me and a lot of people in town, is that dogs are welcome now,” Turnbull mentioned when speaking about the new location, which is different this year than it has been in the past.

Relay for Life will gather around the pavilion and band shell located in the City Park of Manhattan, and plans are laid out to block off roads where the Survivor Walk will be located.

Turnbull is excited to see the outcome at this year’s event, since the location is more resident-friendly. Not only will the location play a huge part, but the band shell will host poems and singers, and vendors will stake their claim to benefit the cause.

For more information about Relay For Life, or to sign up for the event, visit www.relayforlife.org/rileycoks.
