Riley County Commissioner, Dave Lewis has released a statement regarding the amount of encouragement he has received to run for commissioner as a write-in candidate in November:

“I am proud to have served Riley County as our First District Commissioner for the last 4 years.  I embraced this role as an opportunity to help lead our community into its promising future.  It’s been an honor to serve on many boards and attend numerous meetings of great importance to our residents.
Following the August 5th primary election, I have been approached by countless friends, neighbors, associates, and acquaintances encouraging me to run as a write-in candidate for the upcoming November general election.
This process of making this decision has been very difficult and humbling.
Ultimately, my decision has been based on what is best for me.  I wish to spend more time with my family.  I have a small business that is growing and it is rewarding work I greatly enjoy.  As an entrepreneur, I have several projects that I wish to develop.  I won’t be able to accomplish these things and still make the necessary investment of time needed to be a commissioner.
I have decided to not pursue the Riley County Commission as a write-in candidate.
I am proud of the work I’ve done on the commission, and the many other capacities I’ve been a part of.  It has been a rewarding experience, and I am extremely grateful to the people of Riley County for allowing me to serve.
I would like to thank my many friends and supporters for their encouragement, understanding and for believing in me.”
Lewis lost in the primary election, to his competitor-Ben Wilson.
