The K-State women’s basketball team opened up 2014 with a sluggish win against Emporia State 54-50.

Emporia State led at the half 22-21 but the Wildcats would outscore ESU 33-28 in the second half. Bre Lewis was the only Wildcat in double figures with 14 points on 5 of 12 from the field.

She also had eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Ashia Woods provided eight points and three steals.

K-State will host its final exhibition game on Monday as the Wildcats welcome in Newman for a 7:00 p.m. tip off.

The K-State men will open up their season on Sunday afternoon with their exhibiton opener against Washburn. Tip off is at 2:00 and we’ll have coverage beginning at 1:00 on KMAN.
