A preliminary hearing has been set for a 40-year-old Fort Riley soldier facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child, rape, and aggravated sodomy. James Henning was in Geary County Court Tuesday for a status hearing, and requested a preliminary hearing. February 11th at 10 a.m. was set for the preliminary.
Henning was taken into custody in late November after what was described by law enforcement as a month long investigation in connection with the distribution of child pornography, involving members of the Junction City Police Department Detectives assigned to the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Patrol Division and the Drug operation group. Henning was arrested after execution of a search warrant in the 100 block of 12th Street in Junction City.
Henning’s bond has been set at five million dollars.
