Three Murder Suspects in Geary County Court

    Geary County Courthouse, Junction City

Morning hearings were held on Friday in Geary County court for three defendants in a case involving the death of a Junction City woman.

Maryssa Middleton, Drexel Woody, and Larry Anderson are facing multiple charges related to what authorities are calling the first degree murder of 24-year-old Amanda Clemons of Junction City. According to Junction City Police reports Clemens was last seen being placed into a silver vehicle with four other occupants in February of 2014.

Clemens body was subsequently found by authorities in a remote location in Geary County shortly after Clemens last reported sighting by witnesses.

At Friday’s hearing Larry Anderson and Maryssa Middleton received continuances to allow time for more developments in their individual cases. The preliminary trials for both defendants are set for March 13th at 9 am.

Middleton’s defense attorney Lora Ingels stated she was having trouble with the  Geary County clerk’s office mishandling documents.  During Friday’s hearing she pointed out that a document dismissing certain charges, which had official court stamps, was not in the court’s file.  The prosecution agreed to consolidate the charges, and refile the missing charge onto the existing document for the later hearing.

Prosecutors indicated the continuance would allow time for a federal case to possibly be brought against Middleton on March 11th.

Drexel Woody waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and his arraignment is set for January 30th at 9 am.Woody, Middleton, and Anderson are facing charges of conspiracy related to an aggravated kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, and first degree murder.
