    Inmate Identified in Pottawatomie County Jail Death

    Updated 2 p.m. Thursday:
    The inmate who died has been identified as Andrew Brown, 25, of Wamego. The cause of death has still not been released.
    The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with the investigation of an inmate’s death at the Pottawatomie County Jail. A news release from Sheriff Greg Riat indicates just after midnight Wednesday morning,  a Pottawatomie County Jail Officer, while making rounds in the jail, found a prisoner in his cell who was unresponsive.
    Pottawatomie County EMS was notified and the inmate was transported to Wamego City Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The inmate was a 24-year-old male and resident of Pottawatomie County.
    The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was immediately notified and is conducting an investigation into the matter. At this time, no foul play is suspected in the death.The identity will be released pending notification of next of kin.
