The Manhattan High girls defeated Shawnee Heights 50-35 to pull in a current four way tie for first place in the Centennial League with five games left on the schedule.
Caroline Ballard had 17 points to lead the MHS girls. Gigi McAtee pitched in with 9 points.
The MHS girls (12-3, 6-2) join Shawnee Heights, Washburn Rural and Hayden, all at 6-2 in the league.
The Manhattan High boys picked up a huge win for the program, knocking off the #1 team in 5A 55-53 to pull into a tie with Shawnee Heights atop the Centennial League standings at 7-1.
The MHS (13-2, 7-1) defense held the T-Birds to just 24% shooting in the first half. Manhattan shot 48% from the floor in the game but missed seven straight FT’s in the 4Q to let SH have a shot to win at the buzzer, but it would not fall for SH who lost their first game of the season. (14-1)
