Police determine bomb threat not an actual threat

In a press release on Saturday night, the Kansas State University Police Department reported that a suspicious object found on Saturday afternoon on the northeast entrance ramp to Bramlage Coliseum was not a threat.

As part of safety procedures, members of the Kansas Highway Patrol canine bomb team — who are a regular part of the university’s pregame safety checks — examined the contents and requested a further inspection by X-ray. Members of the K-State-Riley County police bomb team were dispatched to the area and a member of the K-State Police Department, who is part of the team, examined and took an X-ray of the bag and contents. Foot traffic around the area was rerouted to other gates for safety during the investigation.
After the item was investigated, it was revealed to be an unattended flashlight wrapped in duct tape.
